Quarantine Solitude_ 2020

With the introduction of social distancing regulations into our daily lives, an increasing amount of people suffered from loneliness. I witnessed myself how the inability to be in physical contact with friends, family, and partners fuelled feelings of isolation from the outside world.

The project is a response to the heightened sense of isolation felt throughout numerous lockdowns with a focus on our collective experience of skin hunger: a longing to touch or be touched in a social way. I visualised the barrier that COVID-19 has driven between individuals by wrapping the subjects in different translucent materials, which prevent skin to skin contact and manipulate sensory impulses received from the exterior surroundings.
